So, remember how I went to EFY over a month ago? And remember how I'm a slacker? So I'm FiNaLlY blogging it.
Our theme this year was Believe. Hope. Endure. and our scripture was
Article of Faith:13
I went to EFY at Utah State University in Logan (the Aggies). My dorm was in the Valley View tower (room 313 if any of you are interested)
When I got up to my dorm, I unpacked and met my roommate Cassidy. Sadly, it was not to last, because Cassidy had been put in the wrong group (she was almost 17), and I was roommateless the first night:[ I was able to room with my dear friend Eden from Wyoming!
This lovely blonde child is Eden:]
The first day, we met our councilors and company, had orientation, dinner, games, and family night.
The second day, we started classes. The teachers I went to were Sister Gailey and Sister McFadden. They were really good, I mean, I'm churchy, but I didn't know if listening to an hour long lecture on listening to good music would hold my (already short) attention span. These classes were amazing! (Also, in one of the classes, Eden and I met these really nice guys Connor and Cooper:) These guys are great! I miss them a lot!)
Tuesday night we had a dance! It was wonderful:] I danced for all of the slow dances except for two (which is quite a feat when there are 2x as many girls as boys!) and somewhere in the night, I cut my hand, and bled on the shoulders of all the guys I danced with. They don't know that. I hope:)
We continued taking classes on Wednesday as well, and also had pizza and game night! This was a blast! We (as you probably guessed) consumed ridiculous amounts of pizza, played the skittles game (a different way that I am used to playing it), had a BUNCH of soda, had mud facials, and, overall, had a fabulous time!
Thursday was the spiritual day. We wore dresses all day, (which, I must confess, I wasn't too thrilled about. My dress wasn't that cute, and my shoes were horrible, but the guys looked so adorable!) and split boys and girls for the morning. Our session director, Brother Anderson, who was really funny was able to get us to (mostly) enjoy his hour-long talk on... less than thrilling subjects. Then lunch, the variety show (the last act was hilarious, I think I might marry the guy), and then free time/dinner. Eden, Emily Bell, Brittany Checketts, and I went to go get ice cream. It was exceedingly delicious! We talked about how there was a trapdoor above the shower, and wondered where it lead. So, obviously, we had to check it out! Sadly, it was just a little space with pipes above.
After dinner, we went to the musical program and testimony meeting. It was so spiritual and amazing! (If you are wondering, yes I did cry during the medley and bawled during testimony meeting.) If I could only go to one night of EFY, I would definitely choose this one. Even with the dances, pizza night, and other fun stuff, this night was the best!
Friday was great as well! We learned things from For The Strength of Youth (I did a roleplay where I was supposed to fall on the ground, and my friends were supposed to be servicable and help me, and I actually *did* trip and skinned my knee) and did a service project. Lunchtime, we started saying our goodbyes and exchanging numbers. I couldn't believe we had to go!
That night we had another dance, and it was amazing! Afterward, we had a slideshow of the week, and a company devotional. Then hugs and goodbye! I cried a little (but all of the girls did), and went up to my room.
Hailey Riss and I (my roomate) had a party! We were rebels and got a bunch of soda from the fridge (nobody was drinking it anyway) and ate all of the snacks she had brought (a lot!) and talked and talked and talked! We had a wondrous time;)
EFY was so great! I loved it with all of my heart, and I can't wait until next year!
